Parker: Thanks Sven!

Scotty settled in well at Stamford Bridge following his January move from Charlton, and played a regular part in our Champions League campaign.

However, he failed to break into Sven's squad for Euro 2004 and, despite being disappointed at the time, Scott has revealed that it was for the best.

He revealed "It was disappointing not to go to Euro 2004 with England, but I had prepared myself beforehand. I hadn't been involved in too many of the friendlies leading up to it, so it wasn't a surprise when I was left at home.

"But not playing gave me the chance to have a good break and rest. It could prove to be a blessing in disguise. I got to return to training earlier than the other players and get to know Jose Mourinho and his methods. I'm now raring to go.

"I needed the summer off because it was a tough season for me last year. I have had the chance to get a well-earned break and chill out with my family."

If his pre season form is anything to go by, this could be a season to remember for Scotty!
