N'Golo Kante to Remain at Chelsea With Midfielder Keen to Stay Put

Chelsea midfielder N'Golo Kante will not be going anywhere this summer, with it being reported that the Frenchman does not want to leave Stamford Bridge, while the Blues are also keen to keep hold of him.

The 29-year-old struggled with injuries last term, limiting him to just 22 appearances in the league. However, the France international - who still has three years to run on his current Chelsea contract - has been linked with a move away this summer, with former boss Antonio Conte particularly keen to bring him to Inter.

Conte has identified Kante as his dream signing as he looks to strengthen in midfield, but it has been suggested the Blues will ask for around £80m in order to part ways with him. However, Telefoot now report that Chelsea simply have no intention of selling the defensive midfielder this summer and, as a result, he will not leave.

Not only do the west London club have no desire to move him on, Kante himself is happy and wants to stay put. Telefoot do indeed claim that there is interest in the former Leicester man, notably from Inter, but Kante will be staying at Stamford Bridge.

With the Premier League giants spending so heavily this summer, there have been suggestions that offloading Kante for close to £80m could be one of the most efficient ways to balance the books. Kai Havertz became Chelsea's sixth senior addition this summer, arriving in a deal which could reach £90m. Frank Lampard still isn't done there, however, as they are also now closing in on the signing of Rennes goalkeeper Edouard Mendy.

Previous reports allude to the fact that Lampard wants to keep hold of Kante, but considering his value, it has been recognised that he would be an ideal player to offload should they wish to balance the books. With the Blues spending so heavily this summer, a whole host of current squad players have been linked with exits, but Lampard has so far struggled to find a new home for them.
