NGolo Kante Open to Signing New £290,000-a-Week Contract at Chelsea

Chelsea midfielder N'Golo Kante has signalled his willingness to renew his contract at Stamford Bridge which could see him earn a reported £290,000-a-week.

The 27-year-old's current deal in west London expires in 2021, as the midfielder has been linked with moves to the likes of Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain in recent seasons due to the level of his performances for both club and country.

According to Goal, however, Kante appears set to shun interest from other clubs in Europe and begin talks over a new £290,000-a-week contract at Chelsea in 2019, which would be the biggest in the club's history.

Kante's stock has continued to rise ever since arriving in the Premier League in 2015, when Leicester paid just £8m for him, before proving to be an integral part of the Foxes unlikely title win in the 2015/16 campaign.

As a result, Kante would spend only one season at Leicester before signing for Chelsea in 2016 for £32m, where he'd help them win the Premier League title in Antonio Conte's first season at the club, forging a strong partnership alongside Nemanja Matic in the centre of the park.

This season has seen Kante used slightly further forward by Maurizio Sarri, although he's still played every minute in the Premier League, with Chelsea just four points behind Manchester City in third.

Kante has also been a key player for the France national team following his debut in 2016, helping Les Bleus reach the Euro 2016 final, before going one better at this year's World Cup, helping France win the tournament for the first time since 1998.

News of Kante's lucrative new contract offer comes after the Frenchman reportedly refused to be paid via an offshore company to avoid paying taxes on his wages, despite pressure from the club to do so.
