N'Golo Kante eyeing 'more great seasons' with Chelsea

Chelsea midfielder N'Golo Kante has confessed he is looking forward to more success with the Blues, amid reports suggesting the Frenchman is set to sign a new long-term contract at Stamford Bridge.

Kante has been in outrageous form over the past few months, picking up the man of the match award in the Champions League final as well as both legs of the semi-final, and he is now seen as a leading contender for the 2021 Ballon d'Or.

With two years left on his contract, Chelsea are keen to sit down with the midfielder to thrash out a new deal, with Fabrizio Romano suggesting talks have already been scheduled, and Kante recently confessed that he is in no rush to walk away from the European champions.

"I've been at Chelsea for five years, I've had some great seasons there," he told a press conference (via RMC Sport). "I hope to have a lot more.

"It's not something I'm worrying about. I have two years left on my contract. Chelsea are happy with me and I feel good there."

Chelsea have been busy working on new contracts recently. Manager Thomas Tuchel joined centre-back Thiago Silva in penning fresh terms after the Champions League triumph, with Chelsea also confirming they have triggered a one-year extension in Olivier Giroud's deal.

Defenders Cesar Azpilicueta, Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen are all entering the final 12 months of their deals, but tying Kante down to fresh terms has to be one of the club's top priorities.

There have been incredibly vocal calls for Kante to win this year's Ballon d'Or, but unsurprisingly, the 30-year-old was eager to deflect the attention away from himself.

"I think it's a little early to talk about it now," he said. "There are six months left. There are a lot of games left, a lot of competitions. There's no need to say that I deserve it today because there are still a lot of games left.

"A few years ago, I was in the top ten, it was nice. It's a nice reward, but it's not necessarily a goal or something I'm working on.

"I try to distance myself from what everyone says about me. I don't pay much attention to all the praise and I'm focusing on the goals of the team instead."
