Chelsea's assistant boss, Eddie Newton answered the post-match questions following the Blues' 6-0 mauling of Wolves at Stamford Bridge in the Capital One Cup.
one surprise addition to the Chelsea ranks was skipper John Terry.
"We talked to John," said Newton. "And he wanted to play.
"Knowing John, he is a very positive person, and loves the club - he just wants to play football."
Worried that the inquiry, held at Wembley, north London, could be a problem regarding
Terry's fitness to play, Newton dismissed the notion.
"John is fine. He is dealing with the situation, he is upbeat.
"John has played enough games (in his career).
"He is a senior player who knows how to look after himself.
"I knew this afternoon that John was going to play. "We took a call from him and he said he was on his way back to Stamford Bridge, he made his way back from The FA early - this was not a lastminute.com situation.
"There are ways and means to get John ready for games, and that involves the medical staff and coaches."
Terry has ended his international career and Newton believes that it was probably a good thing as it could extend his club career.
"It takes a commitment to play for club and country - it's hard," said ex-Blue Newton.
"If you want to play at the top level for a long time, you have to make a decision when you get older.
Chelsea face Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday and Newton is confident that Chelsea will be ready.
"We (will) prepare as we always do for Arsenal," he said.
"We will cover all our bases, we will be ready to make a decision."
Newton is confident that Terry can handle to pressure heaped upon him: "We have a few players who have been at the sharp end of the game for a long time," he said.
"They have to deal with a lot of pressure and need mental strength."
One player who needs that mental strength is striker Fernando Torres, and Newton is happy with his contribution to the team.
Torres, who scored in the six-nil drubbing is, says Newton: "Positive. We always talk. He is a lot sharper - the goals will come. but you can't expect a flood (of goals) - you need to have consistency."
There are doubts about the availability of Frank Lampard and Daniel Sturridge for the trip across London to Arsenal. "Sturridge is 50/50 (to play), said Newton.
"As for Lamps, we will keep an eye on him."
