Mourinho and the brilliantly worked exit strategy

The footballing world seems to have lit up since the sacking of Chelsea manager Jose Mourhino yesterday

He was and is and always will be, the best manager in the English Premier League, yet Messrs Abramavich and Co have decided that enough is enough and got rid of their manager

It is normal when a club is struggling for the manager to have to pay the ultimate price, we know

It is part and parcel within the job description of manager.

But was it a sacking, or did Jose Mourhino just brilliantly work an exit strategy on the footballing world? Consider four things and you begin to see that here was a man at odds with both club and the job he had and one who wished to exit the post so that it could work in his favour

Those four things are his words, his actions, his negativity and his relationship with the media

Jose Mourhino has always been slightly controversial but this year, his comments seem to have been more acerbic than normal in relation to the media and the referees who have had authority over the games he has been the boss of Chelsea for

His comments in interviews afterwards, blaming referees needlessly, or sometimes not so, stating how decisions are always skewed away from Chelsea because they are the champions and because they have such a good team have led some people to turn off in terms of their favour of this once brilliant manager

His actions have been extremely negative as well

The incident with the Doctor running onto the pitch to look after a player and his needs when she maybe should not be there has left a stain on the Blues and their title challenge this year

Couple that with how the team has played since the beginning of the year and the suggestion can be made that the manager lost the players soon after the year began, resulting in a run of games where the team just did not work as a unit, as a team

Then there is the amount of negativity we have seen from someone as good and as positive as he normally is

Last year, his comments were much more favourable, even when under pressure and losing

He had his moments; that cannot be denied, but this year, with the team lost and away from him, or so it seems, the face pulling and the refusals to go in front of the camera just portrayed someone who was being the spoilt little boy of the EPL

It is this negativity and this sour relationship with the media that could be the reason for his so called dismissal from the club yesterday

If the board have seen that as bringing a bad light onto the club, then they would have their right to sack him, I suppose

But was it his doing? Or was this an orchestrated opt out by Jose Mourhino? We are told that the board met and discussed him from the beginning of the year and then 'sacked' him

Does this sound kosher to those fans out there? Or is there something else going on behind the scenes? Does Mr Mourhino want another challenge and in doing so, found a way of leaving without losing the money he would normally not be paid?

We will never know for sure; even if a memoirs detailed it, then it would be shown in a different light, but this fan is asking questions because to go from being so successful to the ultra lows of this year just sounds as if there is something going on there at Stamford Bridge

Whoever comes in, whether it be Gus Hiddink or someone more permanent, is going to have one heck of a job to do to turn round this ailing club

For sure, they should remain in the league, avoiding the relegation drop, but it will be a miracle now if they now finish in the top four
