Mateo Kovacic discusses his incredible goal in Chelsea's draw with Liverpool

Mateo Kovacic has discussed his volleyed goal in Chelsea's dramatic 2-2 draw with Liverpool at Stamford Bridge, describing it as 'beautiful'.

The goal was undoubtedly the best we've seen in the Premier League so far this season, and proved to be a crucial goal too as it was the catalyst for his side coming from two down to salvage a draw.

Speaking after the game (via the club's official website), talked about his goal and how happy he was with the team's performance on the day:.

"When I saw that it was going in, it was a beautiful goal, but I think we were growing with the momentum and we scored the second goal," he said. "I think we could have done even more but we should be happy with that point because it was tough to come back.

"We are happy with the comeback and the team spirit we showed, but not happy with the two points dropped because we obviously wanted to win this game, but it was difficult to come back after we conceded two goals like that. They should not happen at this level, but it happened to us today and we came back amazing.

"For me it’s always two points dropped because we always want to win and we wanted to earn the three points to get closer to City. But we showed great character, we came back and that’s what it is about. It showed our great team spirit."

As well as praising the team's collective performance, Kova gave himself a little pat on the back after the game for his individual performance; and rightly so, given he was deservedly named as the man of the match.

He added: "Today was an important test for me because Liverpool is a high-intensity team, so I think I coped good with that, but still there is a lot of room for improvement for me and to gain fitness even more."
