Marcos Alonso Peña, the father of Marcos Alonso, has suggested that the defender's future lies in Italy once his career in England comes to an end.
Alonso hasn't enjoyed a consistent run of games in the first team under Frank Lampard, and amid rumoured interest from Inter - where he would be reunited with Antonio Conte - the Spaniard's time in west London appears to be waning.
The 29-year-old enjoyed three years in Serie A with Fiorentina, which revitalised his career after not establishing himself at Real Madrid and enduring relegation at Bolton Wanderers.
In an interview with Calciomercato, Peña spoke succinctly and candidly of his son's time in Italy.

Alonso has enjoyed the best football of his career at Stamford Bridge, playing a vital role in Conte's title-winning side of 2016/17.
Alonso's wing-back play of that season helped a tactical revolution within the Premier League as sides across the league followed suit and copied Conte's 3-5-2 formation.
Alonso looked set to leave this January transfer window but ended up staying as Lampard remained unconvinced by Emerson Palmieri.
