Marcel Eyes Celtic Move

Marcel ended his six year spell at Chelsea earlier this week, just days after retiring from international football. And the most capped French player ever, with 116 caps (74 of which came whilst at Chelsea, a club record) looks set to move north of the border- that is, if Celtic are as interested in Marcel as he is in them!

Desailly told the Daily Record "A number of Premiership clubs want me to sign but I don't want to play against my old club Chelsea. I would like the chance to play for Celtic, if they want me, because I have watched them over the last couple of years and I like the way they play.

"I also know about Martin O'Neill and I believe I could work with a manager like him.

"At this stage in my life it's about wanting to play with another big team with high ambitions because I know I have at least one, maybe two good years left and I think Celtic would be ideal.

"They are in the Champions League, they want to progress and I could help them do that."

Sounds like it could be a good move for both parties. And it could see Marcel lining up once more alongside Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, who is reportedly top of Celtic's shortlist of players to replace Henrik Larsson...
