The agent of Inter forward Lautaro Martinez has confirmed they have rejected the chance to sign a new contract with the Italian side, flirting with the idea of joining Barcelona in the process.
Martinez was heavily linked with a move to Barcelona last summer and was widely expected to move to Camp Nou before the COVID-19 outbreak provided the final nail in the coffin of Barcelona's financial situation.
He remained with Inter, racking up 19 goals and 11 assists in all competitions and winning the Serie A title, but despite life at San Siro being rosy, his new agent confessed to Sport that a move to Barcelona is still in Martinez's career plans.
"We are very calm, we have to resolve the Inter situation first, but of course he would like to join Barcelona," said Alejandro Camano. "Who would not like to play for Barcelona? It is one of the biggest clubs in the world.
"I do not know what happened last year with Lauti, he told me that his former agent had told him about Barça, but it was all so confusing. Our job now is to know the situation of the Inter project and listen the offers that are arriving.
"We are fine as we are. We'll see. Inter have offered us a new contract, but for now, we're fine as we are."
Camano did stress that he has not yet had any contact with anyone from Barcelona, leaving the door open to a potential move elsewhere.
90min understands that Camano has fielded calls from Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City, all of whom are on the lookout for a new forward and have asked to be kept updated should Martinez's situation at Inter change.
Finally, Camano also dismissed suggestions that Inter could demand around €90m (£78m) for the striker, suggesting he could be available for a little cheaper."€90m is exaggerated," he continued. "Everyone has a price, although it seems to me that Inter is not talking about selling, but whatever. We'll have to wait and see how Inter's situation changes as the market progresses."
