Lautaro Martinez agent provides update on Inter star's future

The agent of Inter star Laurato Martinez has reiterated that the player is 'calm and happy' at the club, despite mounting interest in his services from elsewhere in Europe.

The Argentine has been a central part of the Nerazzurri's title charge this term, netting 16 times in Serie A to help Antonio Conte's team end an 11-year run without a league title.

As a result of his fine form, the queue of clubs interested in signing him has grown substantially. 90min learned this week that Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City have all asked to be kept up to date on any developments. Real Madrid have also been heavily linked, and that comes after Barcelona were close to signing him last summer, but pulled the plug due to their financial situation.

Inter are in a bit of financial difficulty themselves, however, and that's something Martinez acknowledged when he spoke on his future in March. But he said then that he was in talks with the club over a new deal, and was confident that it could be reached.

He said: “The contract renewal? We’re working on it. Inter at the moment are in a bit of financial difficulty but I am calm because the agreement can be found."

That sentiment has now been echoed by his agent Alejandro Camano, who recently spoke to Gazzetta about the 23-year-old's future. He answered a number of questions, but the message was fairly clear: Martinez is not pushing for a move away.

"We are calm, but the current situation of Inter prevents us from making any predictions," he said. "The boy is happy in Milan, he has just won a Scudetto as a protagonist, but we can not help but wait.

But he went on to say that he can't make any promises, as it could all change depending on the club's finances.

He continued: "I can't promise anything, at present it is useless to make predictions: we, like others, first want to understand what the future of the club will be."

He was then asked to confirm Real Madrid's interest, but concluded saying he has not spoken directly to any club about Martinez at this stage,.

"I reply by saying that I am not talking to any club," he said. "Lautaro is a Nerazzurri player and he still has a two-year contract, Inter is still the priority. As mentioned, however, it is a question of understanding what will happen from a corporate point of view."
