Kepa Arrizabalaga vows to bounce back after Carabao Cup final penalty miss

Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga is confident he will bounce back after missing his side's crucial penalty in Sunday's Carabao Cup defeat to Liverpool.

Brought off the bench in the dying embers of extra-time because of his reputation as a penalty specialist, Kepa failed to save any of Liverpool's 11 spot kicks before blazing his own effort over the bar and handing the first domestic silverware of the season to Jurgen Klopp.

Manager Thomas Tuchel has backed Kepa and defended his decision to make the substitution, which worked in the Super Cup final against Villarreal earlier this season, and the goalkeeper has now spoken out as well.

"To fall and rise," Kepa wrote on Twitter. "Disappointed after big effort during the tournament. We keep working.

"Thanks Chelsea family for your support."

Kepa wasn't the only player who took to Twitter after the game. Centre-back Trevoh Chalobah used his platform to voice his frustration towards a nasty challenge from Naby Keita which went unpunished during the game.

Keita caught Chalobah incredibly high on the leg but was not punished for his foul, with the referee even playing advantage in Liverpool's favour. VAR did not intervene.

Chelsea had their chances to win the game but spurned a handful of great sights on goal, and Romelu Lukaku saw a goal ruled out for the slimmest of offside margins.

The Blues have now lost their last four domestic cup finals, but by contrast, they have won their last three international finals. Every cloud.
