Kepa Arrizabalaga: Chelsea 'set £50m price tag' amid Newcastle interest

Chelsea are prepared to part ways with Kepa Arrizabalaga this summer, according to reports, and Newcastle United are among the sides willing to offer the goalkeeper a route out of Stamford Bridge.

The Spain international has hit the headlines for all the wrong reasons after his cameo in Sunday's Carabao Cup final loss to Liverpool. After being brought on as Chelsea's penalty-saving specialist, Kepa conceded all 11 shots taken at him and skied the crucial spot kick to hand the Reds the trophy.

Prior to Sunday's final, the Daily Star first reported that Thomas Tuchel's side are now ready to move their backup goalkeeper on and will accept offers in the region of £50m.

Newcastle are thought to have been put on alert after being linked with Kepa in recent months, while there is interest from the stopper's native Spain, including Atletico Madrid.

Chelsea paid a world record £72m to sign Kepa from Athletic Club in 2018 as the long-term successor to Thibaut Courtois. After a promising debut season in England, his form fell off a cliff, with the Blues bringing in Edouard Mendy in the summer of 2020 and never looking back since.

Eddie Howe's Magpies have been on the hunt for a new goalkeeper and were heavily linked with Manchester United backup Dean Henderson in the January transfer window.

Newcastle have fielded three different goalkeepers this season, with Freddie Woodman and Karl Darlow stepping up during Martin Dubravka's absences.
