Jose snubs press after beating Villa

Bullish Jose Mourinho snubbed the after-match press conference but still could not resist giving his opinions an airing.

“It was a difficult game,” admitted Mourinho.

“Villa defended well and at least came to came to play football.

“We certainly deserved to win the game. We dominated throughout.

“But we made some risky changes to win the match - Essien ending up at left-back for instance.

“They pushed us back at the last 10 minutes but it was important for us not to make a mistake.

I’m happy that we have conceded a goal to a good strike and not as a result of a mistake from one of our players.

“Didier Drogba should have scored when he had the chance but the penalty gave us the win.

“When I speak, I want my words to be reported accurately.

“When I say that I like living in London and England in general, I then read in the press that I want to be England manager - that just makes me look ridiculous.”

David O’Leary was not too unhappy with the result either.

The Villa boss said: “Chelsea penalty was a correct decision, but I’m not impressed by the referee. He should have noticed a handball by Eidur Gudjohnsen earlier in the move. In fact he missed a couple of things.

“The crowd made their impact on the ref and I think he was affected by them.

“What a beautiful day for Chelsea.

“It will have to take a lot of players to go out of the side with injuries and for Roman Abramovich to go skint for Chelsea to lose the title now.

“It’s not easy to score against Chelsea, and I’m disappointed that we did not take our lead into half-time.

“But it was poor defending and a soft goal for them.

John Terry epitomises what Chelsea are all about - he was magnificent.

“It’s just a shame we did not hold onto our lead for longer.”
