Jose Mourinho said after watching his side lose 3-0 tonight to WBA: "It was not a surprise. I know the players and the nature of the game when the team is champions with games to play, this is the way.
"We have injuries and players we are protecting, the motivation is not so high when you lose the salt and pepper of the motivation, it can be difficult.

"We did not compete and lost quality. I won't be critical of them, I blame myself. The others to. I also blame Manchester City, Arsenal, Man United and Liverpool for letting us win the league so early.
Hopefully we will feel differently in Sunday when we play Sunderland.

On the sending off of Cesc Fabregas, Mourinho was not impressed by referee Michael Jones. "With an experienced referee a word would have been required especially as the gesture was nothing special. A top referee would use just words, but Michael gave a red card which I disagree with."

"On Costa, you must see what the opponents do to him. If the referee wants to protect the talent and protect the bully, it's easy for him."
