John Terry scores in 17th consecutive Premier League season

Here, Press Association Sport looks at the statistical significance of the strike.

:: The goal was Terry's 41st in the Premier League - lifting him three clear as the competition's top-scoring defender and 11 in front of his nearest active rival, Everton full-back Leighton Baines.

:: It was his 67th in all competitions for Chelsea, taking him ahead of John McNichol and Dick Spence into 20th place outright in the club's all-time list.

:: He has now scored in 17 consecutive Premier League seasons, by far the longest such streak for a defender - team-mate Gary Cahill's ongoing run of 10 seasons currently matches former Liverpool star Sami Hyypia for second place

:: Terry's goal was his first in any competition for 485 days, since his strike against Everton on January 16 of last year

:: He was joined by fellow defender Cesar Azpilicueta in scoring his first league goal of the season, Chelsea's 13th and 14th scorers in their title-winning campaign

:: Terry's opener was Chelsea's 100th goal of the season in all competitions - their 77th in the league to go with 15 in the FA Cup and eight in the EFL Cup
