Ivanovic warns Chelsea stars

The Blues defender insists every player has to take a share of the blame for last season, in which the club failed to win any silverware.

Ivanovic, 27, was pleased with his own personal campaign and the fact that the West London outfit finished the season as the best defensive team in the league.

However, with the new Portuguese coach set to make changes at Stamford Bridge, Ivanovic believes every player must accept the blame for last season.

He said: "Personally, I don't like to look on my own season.

"Every time when you don't win a trophy it is hard and in many ways you want to forget the whole year.

"I don't like to speak about me personally and I think every player's success can be judged on what the team does.

"You can have a striker who scores 50 goals in one season but if you win nothing it means nothing.

"At the same time I am very happy because we were the best defensive team in the league.

"I cannot say just the defenders because 11 players defend but this is a good thing for next season, for our confidence.

"But we do have to improve other parts of our play.

"We have to play more for the team, like a team, to give opportunities to our team-mates.

"We know where we made mistakes and I think we will be better and improve in the new season."
