In an exclusive interview in the Sun, Jonno revealed "To be part of an England squad is fantastic. Everything is happening so fast for me. I’m not from a football family and this is all down to my mum. It was a good job she read the paper.

"I was sitting there bored one afternoon and she read the advert. It said Dartford YMCA Under-10s needed players. I had played football for the primary school but I was always sub. Not that I was bothered.

“But I started playing for the YMCA and in only my second game, was spotted by West Ham. A scout gave my mum a card and I joined soon after. Until then, I did not know anything about football. I didn’t know West Ham had schoolboy teams.”

“When I was a kid, I used to score a few goals and striker was my position — with Les Ferdinand my big hero. I used to support Newcastle.

“But after playing with him at West Ham last season, now I am at Chelsea — and now in the England squad. It is unbelievable and I am enjoying every minute of it."
