Injury setback for Costa

The 25-year-old has been hampered by similar problems for the last four months and had to limp out of Spain's friendly defeat to France on Thursday after feeling the injury.

Munir El Haddadi, the highly-rated Barcelona prospect, will replace Costa for Monday's game in Valencia.

The injury will be of particular concern to Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho, who has seen his summer signing score four goals in his first three games for the Blues.

His participation in last week's 6-3 win at Everton had been in question because of his hamstring, but he played and scored twice.

Costa's first problems with his hamstrings came towards the end of his time with Atletico Madrid.

After battling against the problem for a month, he had to be replaced nine minutes into their Champions League final loss to Real Madrid.

A brief statement from the Spanish Football Federation said: "Diego Costa is not available for selection because of an injury to the hamstring muscle in his left thigh,

"All imaging tests will be sent to Chelsea."
