Homesick Costa wants to return to Spain

Diego Costa wants to return to Spain, according to reports coming from Australia.

The Blues are Down Under for the final match of their promotional tour where they play Sydney FC this morning with Costa expected to start.

But it's the fact that Brazilian- born Spain striker Costa appears to be feeling lonely in London and wants to return to Madrid that will be the main talking point.

"I'm homesick," he is reported to have said to friends.

The fact that he said it in Portuguese or Spanish is actually at the root of any apparent discomfort.  Chelsea offer the facility to learn English should the player want it and it's feared that Costa is not as proficient as everyone would have hoped.

The 26-year-old hit 20 goals after his £32million move from Atletico Madrid last season but also had a niggling injury which soured his first season in London.

Chelsea are looking to sign his  former team-mate Antoine Griezman to aid his development at the Bridge.
