Glen Johnson is set to be off-loaded from Chelsea to start a season-loan deal at Portsmouth.
The former West Ham full-back is almost forgotten at Stamford Bridge where his slide to the backwaters of the reserves borders on humiliation.
Glen played for England - was considered a real challenge to Gary Neville's World cup berth.
But now he is looking to resurect his first-team career under the guidence of mentor Harry Redknapp.
The Pompey manager gave Glen his debut while West ham boss and is seeking to be reunited with his prodigy for next season.
Johnson, 22, will move this week to the South-Coast side .
Meanwhile the saga of the Chelsea full-back position is set to continue with Chelsea earmarked to take Germany left-back Phillip Lahm from Bayern Munich.
A £11m transfer is regarded as enough to secure the livewire defender who scored a wonder goal in the opening match of the World Cup.
Lahm will of course follow German captain Michael Ballack who has already signed for the back-to-back Premiership champions.
