Four reasons for and against Chelsea selling Fernando Torres

Fernando Torres is one of the most talked about players in the Premier League. The Spaniard however is currently a shadow of his former self, that once made him one of the most lethal and frightening strikers in world football. Since his ?50million move to Chelsea in 2011, the Torres of old has been hard to find, and goals, even harder.

After four goals in the first seven games, you could be forgiven for thinking that Fernando was finally beginning to shrug off the behemoth price tag on his shoulders. But since then, he has struggled with some poor performances and has failed to contribute to his goal tally this season.

His form, attitude & dedication can all come in to question right now; and Chelsea may be forced to sell the striker come January.

Below I've put together the reason's for and against of Chelsea Football Club selling -Fernando Torres.

For: His lacklustre form is a worry for Chelsea.

At the beginning of the season, all Chelsea fans were excited with Torres' performances. With the creative trio of Eden Hazard, Juan Mata and Oscar all sitting behind the Spaniard ? Chelsea were beginning to play the free-flowing attacking football which saw them shoot up the Premier League table.

Chelsea recruited a side that was intended to supply all the service Torres needed, but the Spaniard is failing to produce the similar performances that he used to. Combined with his finishing of late ? Torres is failing to justify his ?50million price tag.

The number one striker is failing to score goals at Chelsea ? and its hurting them.

Fernando Torres

Against: Roman Abramovich.

Roman Abramovich has done so much for Chelsea Football Club. Having spent over ?1billion since his take-over of the club back in 2004. The Russian is a proud businessman who doesn't like to be told what to do, once he has made a decision ? he sticks too it. His decision to splash out ?50million for Fernando Torres may of seemed reasonable at the time ? but ultimately it seems the most ideal decision for him would be to cut his losses with Torres.

However, Abramovich has grown a fond affection of Fernando and is determined to see his striker re-kindle the form that made him at one point one of the greatest striker's on the planet.

All in all, Roman Abramovich's ego will fail to sell Torres. The Russian oligarch would rather spend another ?50million on a striker, than admit defeat with Fernando.

For: Chelsea could knock off an astronomical sum on there wage bill.

Fernando is one of the Premier League's top earners, and getting him off the cards would allow Chelsea to not only oblige to the Financial Fair Play rules ? but it will also allow them to scout out their next signing.

Under Abramovich Chelsea have never been a club desperate for money. But with the Financial Fair Play rules coming into force and the idea of Chelsea being suspended from Europe?s elite competition, this will be a worrying factor for the Chelsea owner.

Radamel Falcao

Against: Blaming Fernando for Chelsea?s form is na?ve.

No doubt, Fernando Torres is facing the ultimate quandary in his career. This is nothing new to anyone, let alone himself.

Fernando is beginning to replicate the similar form to last season, but before Chelsea coped. Last season was undoubtedly their most successful season under Abramovich. Winning the FA Cup and the much coveted Champions League. Chelsea Football Club have never been a one man team, and the other ten players in the squad are just to blame.

Chelsea have failed to win in the league since their 4-2 victory over Tottenham in October. Along with the sacking of Roberto Di Matteo the club is once again in a state of an unstable calamity. It takes 11 players to win a football match, not just one.

A Loan Spell Could Work Wonders For Torres.

This is a tricky one.

Chelsea would end up paying the vast majority of his wages if he were to move temporarily to a different club, but a loan could be a great way to help Torres rediscover his goalscoring touch. However, there is no reason to suggest that Torres' form will miraculously recover with a move away. Also, are there any teams who have a midfield as creative as Chelsea. Barcelona? But they have David Villa, Pedro, Cristian Tello, oh, and even Lionel Messi.

Ideally, Fernando Torres needs to learn how to operate in the system Chelsea Football Club play.

I don't believe Roman Abramovich will sell the man who cost him ?50million. But you can be sure that he will be replaced.
