FIFA Club World Cup: How to watch Chelsea on TV & live stream, results & fixtures

Chelsea are in Abu Dhabi for the rescheduled 2021 FIFA Club World Cup as they look to win the tournament for the first time.

The Blues earned the right to participate in the competition by winning the Champions League at Manchester City's expense back in May.

This is Chelsea's second foray into the Club World Cup. They qualified for the 2012 edition in Japan courtesy of their famous Champions League triumph over Bayern Munich - however, having progressed to the final by seeing off Mexican side Monterrey in the semis, Rafael Benitez's team were surprisingly beaten in the final by Brazilian giants Corinthians.

Here's how you can follow Chelsea's progress as they bid to become world champions for the first time and complete the full set of trophies that it is possible to win in English club football.

What is the format for the 2021 FIFA Club World Cup?

As normal, there are four rounds in the 2021 FIFA Club World Cup, but the competition includes various byes to more advanced stages depending on the strength of each Confederation.

The first round featured just one match and saw Al Jazira face AS Pirae on 3 February. Al Jazira progressed to the second round, where they were joined by Monterrey, Al Hilal and Al Ahly.

Al Hilal and Al Ahly moved on to the semi-finals, where Chelsea and Copa Libertadores winners Palmeiras entered the competition, and the Brazilian side saw off Al Ahly to reach the final. The European and South American sides were seeded and kept away from each other in the last four. Meanwhile, second round losers Monterrey and Al Jazira contested a fifth-place playoff, which the Mexican side won comfortably.

The winning semi-finalists go forward to the final on 12 February 2022 to fight it out for the honour of being crowned club world champions, with the losers to meet in the third-place playoff.

By the end of the competition, the additional playoffs will mean that all seven clubs competing will come away with a confirmed finishing place from first to seventh.
