Chelsea are taking advice from football's governing bodies on whether to travel to Israel for their UEFA Cup tie with Hapoel Tel Aviv.
The second round tie in Israel on October 18 has been thrown into doubt after this week's plane crash, which saw 78 people killed whilst travelling between Tel Aviv and Siberia. The mystery accident led to the World Cup qualifier between Israel and Austria immediately being postponed for a month, and now Blues officials are saying they will not travel if there is any risk of danger to their party. Gwyn Williams insisted that the club would "not be taking any unnecessary risks" although did say during a recent fact-finding mission that "things in Tel Aviv are fine." UEFA have confirmed that they are talking to the Israeli government and monitoring the situation closely before a final decision is taken.Interact with us
