Erling Haaland won't rush decision on next club

Erling Haaland does not intend on making a quick decision over his future, given the huge amount of interest in his signature.

The Norwegian superstar is set to leave Borussia Dortmund in 2022, as a release clause in his contract kicks-in at the turn of the year.

Haaland was strongly linked with a move this summer and Chelsea made contact with Dortmund, but the German giants made it clear they would not be selling for any fee - meaning they would sacrifice money to keep him for another 12 months.

Chelsea were willing to pay up to £150m, while it is understood others would also have gone to such a fee if Dortmund had shown any willingness to move him.

However, Dortmund decided that after selling Jadon Sancho to Manchester United, they did not need to sell another star in 2021.

There is indeed little they can do to stop Haaland leaving as a clause in his contract negotiated by his agent Mino Raiola means he can leave for just under £70m in 2022.

It means that the interested clubs are preparing their offers at the moment, but sources have told 90min that suggestions they have agreed a deal with any club, verbally or otherwise, are not true.

Raiola is hoping to produce a contract that will see Haaland become one, if not the, highest paid footballers in the world and to do this, he knows he needs clubs competing against each other.

However, it is also known that only a handful of clubs can afford to offer this type of contract to Haaland.

Bayern Munich and Real Madrid are already on his trail along with English powerhouses Manchester United and Manchester City, while Chelsea were also keen – but with the signing of Romelu Lukaku, it remains to be see if they will continue that pursuit.

Barcelona and Liverpool have also been linked and have talked with Raiola about Haaland in the last 12 months so can’t be ruled out of at least being part of the bidding process.

And, unsurprisingly, Paris Saint Germain have spoken to and told Raiola to keep them informed of the situation.

Haaland has enjoyed a superb start to the new season scoring three in three for Dortmund, and also helping himself to five goals in three games for Norway during the recent international break.
