Drogba very honestly admitted he initially was keen to stay at Marseille, but after much thought, Chelsea was a good move for him.

Rumours of a £25m price tag have been quashed by Chelsea, who say the fee they paid is far less.

"I wanted to stay at Marseille because I have experienced fantastic times there, but financially and in a sporting sense I could not refuse Chelsea's offer.

"I made my decision on my own, no one influenced me."

After bagging himself an impressive amount of goals last season, he is hopeful of topping that in England.

Drogba also revealed he had other offers from abroad, but chose Chelsea as it seemed like an interesting challenge.

"I also had offers from Italian clubs but going to Chelsea is an interesting challenge in my career.

"I am glad to join them and I hope I will live up to their expectations."

Drogba is in London today, having his medical.
