PSV were involved in lengthy negotiations with Man Yoo but in the end got fed up with the Premiership champions' reluctance to meet their valuation of a player who recently scored his first international goal for Holland.

In step Chelsea with a £12 million offer, and Robben is ours!

Peter Kenyon revealed: "This is a great signing for Chelsea. Arjen is a top quality player who will become a major asset for our club in the years ahead. For his age, he shows great maturity and mental strength to go with his natural footballing skills.

"It's an excellent example of how Chelsea is appealing to the new wave of European talent and our commitment to bring the best young players to Stamford Bridge as well cultivate the best, young English talent."

And Claudio Ranieri added "For me, Arjen Robben will be a fantastic addition to our squad. He is quick, strong, scores goals, makes goals. He can do everything. His style is perfect for the Premier League and I am very happy that he wanted to come to us."

The deal comes just days after PSV claimed that they were linking up with Chelsea, effectively as a feeder club. Reports claim that Chelsea paid £7 million for Brazilian defender Alex to join PSV in order for him to obtain a work permit and then be eligible to sign for us in a few years time.

Who knows if that's true... what we do know is that Arjen Robben will officially become a Chelsea player this summer!
