Chelsea legend Didier Drogba has joked he will be reduced to tears if Liverpool's Mohamed Salah continues to break his records.
Salah recently overtook Drogba as the highest-scoring African in Premier League history, eclipsing the 104 netted by the Ivorian during his time at Stamford Bridge, and the Liverpool man is on the hunt for more of Drogba's records.
The Chelsea hero sits atop the charts for Premier League assists by an African (54) and Champions League goals scored by an African (44), but Salah is just 11 strikes away from taking the latter away from Drogba.
"He's going to destroy my records! I want to cry!" Drogba laughed on Mehwar TV.
Drogba spent six months alongside Salah at Chelsea between the summer of 2014 and January 2015, at which point the Egyptian jetted off to Fiorentina on loan, and Drogba admitted he saw enough from the winger to predict this meteoric rise.
"We trained together, we played together, we spent a lot of time together, even if he left in January to get more minutes on the pitch," Drogba explained. "But what I saw during training, and all his team-mates will tell you, the quality was there.
"He just needed time on the pitch to show his talent and his quality. When you look at the squad we had at the time - me, Diego Costa, Mo Salah, Oscar, Eden Hazard - it was not easy to play, but what really got me attached to Mo was that he is really a nice guy.
"Even when he was not playing, he was sad not to be contributing to the team, but he was always good. Not once did you hear a word regarding the coach or the players.
"When you have his intelligence, it's just a matter of time to blow up. I remember we spoke a few times when he was at Roma, he was scoring goals but had a moment when he was not scoring. He asked me 'how do you deal with these situations?'. I share with him a lot of experience. You have to go back to the basics and he did that, and boom, he's still unstoppable."
Salah currently sits on 108 Premier League goals, two of which came with Chelsea and 106 in the red of Liverpool, and he's only ten assists away from matching Drogba's record in that field.
