Crespo Deadline

Hernan's Chelsea future was plunged into doubt when he failed to turn up for the first day of pre season training. He has since made his apoligies (and excuses) but it is still unsure if he will be with us next year.

Jose revealed to Sky Sports News: "I didn't understand why he (Crespo) was arriving late (for training). He was making excuses. But everything is OK with him now. I want to go to US with my squad decided.

"The only doubt is Crespo stays or is leaving. If Crespo is leaving we will buy another striker. It's up to him (Crespo). I don't want players who are not 100% ready to stay. If he has 1% of doubt I don't want him to stay."

And if Hernan is to leave, Marseille's Didier Drogba is top of Jose's wish list. Of the Ivory Coast hitman, Jose said "I see the qualities of power and speed in him. Also his control on the first touch and the way he fights for the team. He is a player who can achieve great success."

Unfortunately, all of those qualities come at the cost of £25 million! For a player who has only come off the back of one good season, that seems an awful lot of money...
