Clarke's role cut in half

Steve Clarke's position as assistant manager at Chelsea is under threat.
Clarke who was Jose Mourinho's right-hand man will now have to work with another coach - both will have the title assistant first team coach.
Quite what Clarke makes of his job being taken and split is anybody's guess, but it's fair to say that the very popular Scot will be reviewing his position at Stamford Bridge.
The number one choice to sidle up appears to be a Ajax's Henk Ten Cate who will offset Avram Grant's lack of a Uefa Pro coaching licence.
Chelsea were forced into making the following statement in response to leaks about the undermining of Clarke's role at SW6.
Chelsea Prada.com said: "Following reports this morning regarding the recruitment of backroom staff, Chelsea Football Club has the following statement.
Chelsea first team coach Avram Grant has made it publicly clear several times that he intends to strengthen his backroom team in addition to his assistant coach Steve Clarke.
One of the scenarios Avram is considering is a team containing a British assistant coach in Steve and a foreign assistant coach, a system the first team are already familiar with."
