Chelseas Jose Mourinho- The Angry One

Chelsea came into the game on the back of two impressive victories over Manchester City and Arsenal in the League Cup and were expected to win the game. Newcastle had just suffered two defeats in a row but believed they were due a result.

Chelsea could have been 2-0 up at half time with the best of the chances falling to John Terry. His first effort was a header against the bar from a Juan Mata corner and later in the half another header was cleared off the line from Lampard?s corner by Santon.

Newcastle came out for the second half with more belief and were the better side. After getting instructions from Alan Pardew, Yohan Cabaye floated a free kick over the Chelsea defence and Gouffran headed into the far corner. Loic Remy added Newcastle?s second of the game which ended any hope of a result for Chelsea.

Mourinho said: ?I made eleven mistakes with my team selection. That?s the feeling I have when my team plays so badly. We deserved to lose because for 45 minutes we played at the level of a friendly. The result is down to the fact that one team wasn?t there.?

Chelsea?s home record is impressive with a 100% record but on the road they have only managed one win and five points from five games. If Chelsea are to challenge for the title they need to improve this record as they do not look the same team away from home.

Mourinho?s comments are a bit harsh on Newcastle as they fully deserved the victory and this was down to their hard work, commitment and they defended well as a team. It was not just a case of Chelsea not turning up.

Chelsea fans have voiced their opinions after the game with most unhappy with the performance of David Luiz and also the formation with some fans saying Demba Ba should have started against his old club. Fans also believe the performance highlighed the need for a defensive midfielder who can protect the back four.
