Chelsea's delight is Spurs' misery

Chelsea winning the Champions League means heartache for north London rivals Spurs.

The Blues dramatic penalty shoot-out victory over Bayern Munich tonight in Munich, means that Chelsea automatically go into next season's Champions League.

But it also means that Spurs, who finished fourth in the Premier League miss out on the top Euro competition, and drop down to the lesser Europa Cup.

Only four English side are allowed in the Champions League and the top three finishers Manchester City, Manchester United and Arsenal go through.

Chelsea finished sixth, their lowest position in 10 years but whoever wins the cup is given the chance to defend it and Chelsea exercise that option.

So shame on Spurs, but what a sensational result for Chelsea.
