Chelsea will not be permitted to wear their golden World Champions badge in the Premier League as it goes against competition regulations.
The Blues saw off Palmeiras in extra-time on Saturday to claim the last trophy they had yet to win in Roman Abramovich's 19 years at the helm, and among the rewards is a golden patch which can be emblazoned on a team's kit until the next winner is crowned.
Fans will get their first glimpse of the patch in the first leg Chelsea's Champions League last-16 tie against Lille on February 22, but it won't be on show in the Premier League as competition rules forbid changes to kits midway through the season.
As was the case with Liverpool when Jurgen Klopp's side won the competition in 2019, the patch will not be seen in the Premier League and will largely be reserved for European ties.
The Reds did get the chance to wear their patch in one league game, against Wolves, but that was as the result of a formal appeal to the FA which only resulted in them getting permission to wear it in one match.
Chelsea could follow the same procedure but are unlikely to be met with any more success.
As far as the FA Cup goes, Chelsea would also have to appeal to the FA for permission to wear a different kit to that which they have registered for the Premier League, but those rules are not understood to be as strict.
