Chelsea to spend big in Napoli Higuain raid

Gonzalo Higuain has proven his class at Napoli after two seasons with the Italian Serie A outfit and an astonishing goal tally of 53 goals from 102 appearances

The player was sold by Real Madrid in 2013 after seven seasons with the Spanish giants and could soon find himself linking with Jose Mourinho once more

Chelsea are understood to be interested in spending £30million to bring the experienced 27-year-old to the Bridge to strengthen an attack which relies heavily on the fitness of Diego Costa, especially with Drogba finishing his playing spell at the club.

The report in the Daily Star states that the future of several key players is now in doubt especially with the club finishing outside of a Champions League spot

Higuain is obviously a player that Mourinho is familiar from his time at Real Madrid and he clearly feels the player would be a good fit at Chelsea and provide them with a truly fearsome attack.

Higuain was born in France but has dual citizenship with Argentina, his father Jorge Higuain was also a professional footballer and he gained his new citizenship in 2007 shortly before joining the Argentina U23 setup

The striker began his career at River Plate in 2005 and joined Real in 2007 where he made his name

The Argentina international was selected and played at the 2010 and 2014 World Cups.
