Chelsea look set to profit from ArsenalÂ’s penny-pinching with a decisive raid on one of their main targets
Chelsea have been on the lookout for a striker to provide backup for Diego Costa with Didier Drogba finishing his second stint at the club
Reports in the Telegraph reaveal that Jose Mourinho intends to make the first and decisive move for Gonzalo Higuain, a player who has proven capability to score 20+ goals per season
Mourinho will have a slight advantage over other suitors having already worked with the player at Real Madrid.
With Napoli failing to qualify for the Champions League and with Rafa Benitez moving to Real Madrid this season it is expected that Higuain will move on
The Argentinian has an incredibly goal scoring record that has delivered Napoli 53 goals in just two seasons and such players are incredibly difficult to come by
The 27-year-old is probably now at his peak so while the cost will be high, so will be the return.
Higuain was born in France and became a dual national with Argentina in 2007 and has since gone on to gain 47 caps for his country.
The strikers honours include three La Liga titles, Copa del Rey and Supercopa de Espana
Coppa Italia and Supercoppa Italiana
