Chelsea predicted lineup vs Watford - Premier League

Chelsea have the chance to put their disappointing draw with Manchester United behind them when they face Watford on Wednesday night.

The Blues are currently top of the Premier League by one point, with closest competitors Manchester City and Liverpool also in action on Wednesday.

Manager Thomas Tuchel has a few injuries to deal with and rotation of his starting XI is expected, so here's the lineup he could pick for the trip to Vicarage Road.

1. Goalkeeper & defenders

Edouard Mendy (GK) - Finished runner-up to Gianluigi Donnarumma for the Yashin Trophy on Monday. Has been incredible since joining from Rennes last year.

Antonio Rudiger (CB) - One of the league's best defenders. Little gets past him and the German can bring the ball out of defence well too.

Andreas Christensen (CB) - Has matured in the last few years and become an important member of Chelsea's defence, although he's had to be patient recently.

Malang Sarr (CB) - A few Chelsea defenders could do with a rest and Sarr has done well in the few games he has played.

2. Wing-backs & midfielders

Cesar Azpilicueta (RWB) - Reece James has been in scintillating form but is a doubt for this one. Azpilicueta isn't the same attacking threat but very little gets past him defensively.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek (CM) - A smattering of injuries in Chelsea's midfield have given Loftus-Cheek opportunities this season and he's impressed. May get another chance here.

Mason Mount (CM) - Might be fielded in a deeper role. Due a start after featuring as a substitute in the games against Juventus and Manchester United.

Marcos Alonso (LWB) - Ben Chilwell is out for the rest of the year at least, meaning Alonso will get more chances to impress. Always a threat in attacking areas.

3. Forwards

Christian Pulisic (RF) - Not an automatic pick in the forward three, having made just one start in the league so far. Some more consistent performances and a couple of goals over the next few weeks could change that.

Romelu Lukaku (ST) - May make his first start since returning from injury. Chelsea have plowed on in his absence but having a more definite central presence will still be a massive boost.

Kai Havertz (LF) - Has played as the central striker in Lukaku's absence but should revert to a supporting role here.
