Mario Gomez finished as Bayern Munich?s top scorer for the past two seasons, netting 39 and 41 goals respectively in 2010/11 and 2011/12. However Jupp Heynckes opted to sign Croatian international Mandzukic after he impressed during the Euro 2012 finals.

Jupp Heynckes see's the two forwards too similar to play along side each other this season, and is reportedly ready to listen to offers in January for their star man ? if Mandzukic can continue his fine form.

Bayern Munich paid around ?30m to land Gomez in the summer of 2009 and Chelsea are willing to offer a fee in the region of ?50m (?40m) to tempt the German giants into a sale.
