Chelsea in hunt for Van Der Wiel

Chelsea's search for a right-back to replace out of favour Jose Bosingwa could see them raid Ajax for Gregory van der Wiel.

The speedy Dutch right-back is much admired by in-coming boss Guus Hiddink and Van Der Wiel is one of the names handed to Chelsea chief executive Ron Gourlay by Hiddink for him to bring to SW6.

Van Der Wiel, 23, would cost in the region of £18m.

Ajax might well be up for the sale as they are eying up Crystal Palace star full-back Nathaniel Clyne.

Clyne, 20, has a year remaining on his contract and the youngster's advisors have told The Eagles that he won't be signing a new deal.

With Ajax ready to pounce for Clyne, Chelsea are putting together a bid for Van der Wiel who has 24 Holland caps to his name.

Bosingwa has attracted interest from Inter Milan and Roma in Italy as well as Real Madrid and Valencia in Spain.

Chelsea would be looking to get back at least the £16.3m the Blues paid out for his services from Porto in 2008.
