Chelsea fear Petr Cech, Marina Granovskaia & Bruce Buck could leave after club sale

Chelsea are concerned that Roman Abramovich's eventual sale of the club could lead to the departures of high-ranking officials Petr Cech, Marina Granovskaia and Bruce Buck.

Plenty of investors have registered their interest in buying Chelsea after Abramovich confirmed his desire to sell the club, and there are major doubts over whether the current hierarchy will stay together under new management.

Of the trio, Granovskaia has the closest ties to Abramovich. The duo have worked together since 1997, with Granovskaia moving to London to help with the takeover in 2003 and joining the board ten years later.

Whether she will remain following Abramovich's departure is unclear, and according to The Athletic, there are significant concerns that Granovskaia could be one of a number of high-profile departures from Stamford Bridge.

Granovskaia works closely alongside chairman Bruce Buck, who helped Abramovich buy Chelsea in the first place. The pair do most of the work on Abramovich's behalf but may see their roles altered if the new owners choose to bring in their own people.

As for Cech, who became a club director following his retirement in 2019, there are also fears that he could be ushered out of the door.

First-team manager Thomas Tuchel has already confirmed his desire to stay at the club after its sale, stressing that he believes Chelsea are the 'perfect match' for him.

Tuchel also admitted that he hopes to be able to continue working alongside Cech and Granovskaia but insisted that he could build a new relationship with anybody who comes in to replace the pair.
