Chelsea have finalised the appointment of Tom Glick as their new president of business, with the former chief commercial officer of City Football Group set to manage things off the pitch.
After the boardroom shakeup led by new owner Todd Boehly, Glick was quickly identified as a possible addition thanks to his extensive experience in English football. As well as his time with CFG, Glick has worked as CEO of Derby County and has also been part of the Football League Board, the FA Council, and the Professional Game Board.
Most recently the president of the NFL's Carolina Panthers, Glick has now been handed day-to-day control of Chelsea and will be primarily responsible for the club's dealings away from football, including managing the Blues' global commercial strategy and enhancing fan engagement.
"Chelsea FC is an iconic sports institution, known and admired all over the world," Glick said of his new position. "I have been very impressed with the vision and mission of Todd Boehly and Clearlake.
"They have the Chelsea community at the heart of everything they do. We have a huge opportunity here to enhance performance across the board, on behalf of everyone we serve."
Boehly added: "Tom’s successful track record as a leader and innovator at several respected and winning sport organisations made him the obvious choice for this position. His skills and experience will be vital as we improve Chelsea FC’s key infrastructure, expand the Club’s products and reputation, and find exciting new ways for our loyal supporters to engage with their favourite players."
