Chelsea 2-3 AC Milan

Roman has attempted to buy Shevchenko on several occasions since buying Chelsea, only to be foiled on each occasion. The Ukranian showed exactly why Roman is such a keen admirer, with an electrifying performance, capped off with a fantastic late winner.

Chelsea started off well enough, with Eidur Gudjohnsen giving us the lead with a deft volley past Christian Abbiati after 19 minutes.

Milan would draw level shortly afterwards through a sublime volley by Brazilian star Cafu. A neat move saw the ball worked wide to Cafu, who belted the ball goal bound. Carlo Cudicini was anticiapting a cross, and was left red faced as the ball flew past him!

Chelsea would regain the lead before half time thanks to new signing Didier Drogba. Frank Lampard floated in a corner which was met by a fierce header from Drogba. The ball was in the back of the net before the keeper could react, 2-1!

After half time, things were looking rosy for Chelsea until a late capitulation. Ricardo Carvalho was on at half time for his first appearance, and he looked steady enough. But with 15 minutes to go, Alessandro Costacurta fired Milan back level from a corner.

And late on, Andrei Shevchenko fired a low free kick past the wall and into the far corner via the post. Carlo was completely unsighted and beaten by the sheer power of the shot.

Despite the result, Jose Mourinho was delighted with the work rate of his team. Our next game is on Sunday afternoon, in the Gianfranco Zola Tribute Match vs Real Zaragoza.
