Cech This Out!

After signing a 5 year contract, following a £7 million switch, Petr Cech is adament he won't just be warming the bench.

"Well, for the money, they certainly did not buy me just for the bench," he explained.

"I believe I will get my chance and it will be just on me what I will do. If I fail, it will be my problem. If not, good for me."

He is very excited about his move, but will not move until the summer and must stay with Rennes until then. However, he is currently injured with a dislocated elbow.

"Every day the situation was totally different. When it looked bad, it wasn't easy for me," he said.

"But I still hoped that they would find a compromise.

"It's great to see how Chelsea wanted me, and it's okay with them to wait for me until summer."

Cech also openly talked about Chelsea's new owner, Roman Abramovich. (In case you didn't know)

Everyone was surprised when Abramovich came to Chelsea with such an amount of money, even in a time when there is not much money in football," he continued.

"There is lot of clubs having financial difficulties these days, but not in Abramovich's case and everyone is asking where he gets his money.

"I know that in England they are very strict in this, so they will not sell the club to someone they cannot trust. I think it's all sorted.

"If it was someone from the Arabic world, it would be the same.

"In my opinion, it's very important that a man with such money is able to build the club with some vision and I think he is doing it.

"On the other hand there were cases when someone pumped money in for two to three years and then he become bored and left. I hope this will not be the case."

As he has done with all his transfer dealing so far, Mr Abramovich has personally looked over the deal and negotiated the contract.

When I was in London, he was in some business meeting. Every detail of my contract was faxed to his plane and he immediately responded," he said.

"He is the one who is giving money so he has to sign everything. I talked to Paul Smith and Pini Zahavi, the agent who brought Abramovich to Chelsea."

The 21 year old also confirmed he was quadrupling his salary at Stamford Bridge.

"I will be on four times more than in Rennes. I have nothing to hide," he said after the French press stated different sums on his potential wage.

"If someone gets the exact sum, it can be published, I don't care. I'm joining a bigger club that can afford to pay more. I have no problem with this."

Life could be worse ........
