Cech or Carlo Claudio !!

Peter Kenyon has insisted to Chelsea TV that the arrival of Petr Cech will not put pressure on boss Claudio Ranieri to play him, or to drop Carlo Cudicini.

"[Who is number one] is up to Claudio to decide," stated Kenyon.

"I think Claudio's view, when I talked to him, is that he wanted to strengthen the goalkeeping part.

"He thinks Petr Cech is the man, and I'm glad I've got him."

Kenyon also made it clear that there was no hard feelings or rift between himself and Ken Bates, who's programme notes weren't printed in the Charlton programme.

"I think there were some discussions that have gone on with regards to making some space in the programme in order to introduce the new team, that's Bruce Buck and myself.

"Ken indicated that he wasn't going to do them anymore.

"Now I don't want to add to the speculation, there's not a spat.

"I think we all recognise Ken's contribution but we are also moving the football club and business on.

"Ken sold the club back last summer and as a consequence of that he ceased to be and have any executive responsibilities.

"There's nothing unusual about that. It is quite a normal process."
