Cech: Cudicini's not speaking to me...I wonder why?

Petr Cech's best mate in football is Carlo Cudicini and it's possible that the two will face each other for the first time in a competitive match tomorrow.

Cudicini spend many years at Chelsea and then saw Cech take his number one spot five years ago.

The Italian seemed happy enough to sit on the bench for the Blues and bide his time, but he never regained a regular first team slot and so headed off to north London last season.

With Gomes showing less that convincing performances and then getting injured, up stepped Cudicini to claim top spot at Spurs.

He has being instrumental in Spurs' good start to the season and was not at real fault for any of the three goals conceded in the defeat against Manchester United last week.

Cech beamed when Carlo's name was brought up in conversation.

The giant stopper said of his great pal: "Carlo is one of the top Premier league goalkeepers. He is doing very well for Spurs.

"Last season he had five tremendous games for them then ended upon the bench which was a surprise for me.

"It's the manager decision but he has vast experience. He may be older now but he still has amazing agility.

"We spoke before our matches last week - ours at Stoke City and his against Manchester United, and said we both must win so when we play each other on Sunday, we are playing for the top spot in the league.

"We did our part, they did not," he smiled.

"It's always nice see him play.

"He always beats me at golf so I hope to beat him on the football pitch as this will be the first time I have played against him."

And when Chelsea-Mad asked Cech how relations are ahead of the big match, he said: "I've tried to speak to him this week. But I don't know, maybe he's not answering his phone for some reason."

Moving on to the game itself, Cech said: "Spurs are tough opponents.

"They did not have a good start last season, but they have this season. They have lost only against Man U. This is a derby so it will be tough.

"But we have played tough games already this season at Hull, Sunderland and Stoke and we are able to change things around.

"We have already beaten Manchester United in the Community Shield so we know we can beat the top teams also."
