Carlo Jones!

For the past year, Chelsea Mad had been under the impression that Carlo could not play for one of the home nations. When interviewed by Chelsea Mad editor Rich Godden last October, Carlo revealed: "Unfortunately, there are rules that stop me to do this (play for England). I played for the under-16's and the under-18's in the Italian team, so I am not eligible to play for England."

However, FAW secretary general David Collins was quoted as saying "I'm sure Mark and his squad would consider it if the situation did arise."

And earlier in the week, Carlo declared "I don't think England need a goalkeeper.

"They've got David James and two young goalkeepers coming up in [Paul] Robinson and [Chris] Kirkland. So I don't think Eriksson will be interested in me."

Carlo will be eligible for any of the home nations due to the fact that he will have been a citizen in Great Britain for the past 5 years, and he has not represented Italy at senior level.

If England do not take the opportunity to get Carlo as their goalie, then Sven Goran Eriksson does not deserve to be manager anymore. One of the few positions England have a weakness, is goalkeeper. David James is a calamity waiting to happen, Paul Robinson will see his confidence sink even lower when he represents Tottenham this season, and Chris Kirkland seems to get injured every time he leaves his house!

So come on Chelsea fans- let's start the "Carlo For England" campaign! Don't let the Welsh benefit from the best goalkeeper in the Premiership, whilst we have to put up with one of the worst!
