Cole famously found himself in hot water earlier this year when he shot a teenager - who was on work experience at the Blues training base in Cobham - in the neck with an air rifle.

Own Cole: Chelsea and England star Ashley Cole helped launch Call of Duty

The incident in February resulted in a police investigation, although Tom Cowen, the victim from Loughborough University, didn't press charges.

And at the launch night of Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3, ?125,000-a-week star Cole, who had taken the infamous air-rifle to the training ground complete with a muzzle and night-scope, looked right at home.

Rugby stars: Manu Tuilagi and Courtney Lawes were also in attendance

Perhaps we should just be thankful the England international is sticking to simulated shoot 'em ups as opposed to the real thing.

QPR's Joey Barton was also at the event. And true to the game, the controversial midfielder went on the attack with an astonishing, all guns blazing, Twitter rant at other guests.

Barton picked fights with the cast of hit TV series The Only Way Is Essex, labelling the cast, including Mark Wright, James Argent and Joey Essex 'shallow, fake, [with] pretentious lifestyles.'

Other sports stars were rolled out, including Manu Tuilagi - who himself has proven he can swim like a Royal Marine - Courtney Lawes, and cricket pair Jade Dernbach and Graeme Swann.
