Liverpool have been chasing Sturridge all season as they eye the England forward as the solution to their striking crisis. Luis Suarez has been their main source of goals with 10 already this season in the Premier League, and Rodgers believes Sturridge has the capability to play along side the Uruguayan as he continues his turn around of Liverpool Football Club.

However, Rodgers hopes that Rafael Benitez will have minimal influence on Daniel Sturridge's decision to switch clubs ? as he fear's Benitez will give more opportunities to the youngster.

Rodgers said: ?You never know when new managers go into clubs, but we will see what happens over the course of the market for us.?

?Hopefully we can get a few in. Obviously Ian Ayre has been dealing with transfer stuff in the background and doing a great job along with the recruitment team.?

Rodgers however has not given up on Arsenal forward Theo Walcott as well as Blackpool's Thomas Ince.

The Anfield club are entitled to a 35% cut of any future transfer fee for Ince, which technically means they are able to buy him cheaper than other interested Premier League sides.
