Borussia Dortmund prepare loan bid to sign Callum Hudson-Odoi

Borussia Dortmund are interested in signing Chelsea star Callum Hudson-Odoi in the summer transfer window, and they are preparing an initial loan bid to bring the winger to the Bundesliga.

The 20-year-old was a regular fixture in the Blues' lineup under Frank Lampard, but he has rarely featured since Thomas Tuchel arrived at Stamford Bridge in January 2020, throwing his future into doubt.

And Sky Sport in Germany reports that Dortmund are willing to offer Hudson-Odoi a temporary escape route from his Chelsea nightmare. The German giants are keen to bring the winger to the Bundesliga on an initial loan deal, and Hudson-Odoi himself is interested in the move.

Dortmund are yet to make contact with the Blues over a deal for Hudson-Odoi, and Chelsea may need some convincing to weaken their squad by losing the talented youth academy product.

Der BVB has proven to be a happy home for young, developing starlets of the game, with Jadon Sancho the latest example of an English talent who left the Premier League in search of regular game time.

Hudson-Odoi will see Sancho's rise from Manchester City youngster to Manchester United superstar via Dortmund as a route to follow, hoping that consistent minutes and a return to form could see him force his way back into Tuchel's plans.

There is a stack of superstars blocking his path at Stamford Bridge however, with the likes of Hakim Ziyech, Mason Mount, Timo Werner and Kai Havertz all jostling for his position in the starting lineup.

The England international was expected to become the future of the Chelsea attack, and signed a long-term deal in west London back in September 2019. That contract was handed to him amid strong interest from Bayern Munich, and the Blues stood firm to reject several offers from the German giants and tie down their man.

The tables have turned now though, and Hudson-Odoi is no longer seen as even slightly important to this Chelsea team. He was left on the bench for a third straight Premier League game against Liverpool on Saturday, and the Bundesliga appears to be his next destination once again.
