First-half goals from Matko Mitrovic and Jacopo Sala settled any nerves with Blackburn's main contribution being a booking for ex-Chelsea goalkeeper Kevin Hitchcok's son Tom - a striker.
Further goals in the second half from Gokahan Tore and a smart second from Sala sealed an empahatic victory.
Chelsea stopper Sam Walker, at 6ft 7 inches tall had to make a couple of saves but this was easily Chelsea's night.
