Chelsea have been handed a home tie against Barclays Premier League rivals Newcastle in the third round of the Carling Cup. Carlo Ancelotti's side will be looking to improve on last season's run in the competition, when they were knocked out on penalties by Blackburn in the quarter-finals. The tie will be played at Stamford Bridge in the week commencing September 20.
